It’s Men’s Health Week on 10-16 June so it’s all about the boys. This is why we’re encouraging all of you fellas to book your regular dental check-up.
We know, you’re really busy, you’ve got better things to do, you’re not in any pain so your dental check can wait another month, or two, or three… right? Wrong!
Healthy mouth, healthy body
The ways in which areas of our bodies are interlinked is absolutely fascinating but one of the strongest links is between oral health and overall health. There has been lots of research carried out that proves a connection between the health of our mouths and heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and lung disease… pretty grim reading huh?
Attending regular dental check-ups means that we can keep an eye on plaque, gum disease and mouth infections that could be linked to something more serious. In addition, we will also monitor potential cavities, etc, to ensure we are working to prevent small issues from developing into bigger (more expensive) problems.
Did you know that during every dental check-up we carry out mouth cancer screening? Don’t let that scare you off, we do this for every patient at every dental exam, and you’ll hardly notice it is even happening. The reason we do this is because, as with all cancers, early detection is crucial, and the warning signs can be easy to miss yourself.
Keep it sexy
So next time you think about putting off your dental check-up remember that your oral health can impact on your overall health. Also, bad breath and dodgy teeth really aren’t sexy, so if you want to stay on top of your game, come and see us… we promise to keep you Sparkly.
