The Christmas tree is up, your presents are wrapped, the turkey is ordered, and everything is in place for a wonderful Christmas… but what about afterwards? Have you started thinking about your resolutions for the new year ahead?
Here at Sparklysmile, we’re really excited about 2020, not just because it’s the beginning of a new year, but also a fresh decade! It feels like a perfect moment to make some big plans to make the next 10 years (and beyond) truly wonderful.
New year’s resolutions
There are lots of areas within life to consider when it comes to setting goals. Fitness, relationships, social life, work and career, finances, health, etc, and it’s important to really think about everything in order to reach your aspirations, whatever they may be. However, we think it would be fabulous if everyone used their resolutions to give their oral health a little extra love.
Good health should be on the top of everyone’s agenda, because what do we really have without it? But did you know that your oral health is linked to your overall health? There have been numerous studies that prove links between oral health and systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
What can you do?
The main thing to try to avoid is gum disease and inflammation; not only can this have a devastating effect on your smile, the same bacteria can move beyond the mouth and affect other areas of your body, too. Keeping on top of your oral health regime – with good brushing, flossing and regular dental check-ups and hygiene appointments – will make a huge difference. It’s really not a tough resolution to stick to but it will make a big difference.
Why not kick 2020 off with the best intentions and book a dental check-up and hygiene appointment for January? This will set you in good stead for the new year and we can give you tips and advice on how you can boost your oral health. Give us a call on 020 8852 0442 today.
