Hints for optimal lightening
Night time wear works well because the mouth is drier and the gels are less diluted by your saliva.
Don’t worry if the teeth become a little sensitive – the sensitivity will go within a few days.
You could place a desensitising toothpaste (eg sensodyne in your trays) for 15 minutes. This gives a calming effect and can be done at a different time to whitening.
Keep your stocks of bleaching gel cool – ideally in the fridge or in a cool cupboard.
When cleaning your dental trays use cold water so that you do not spoil the accurate fit of the trays.
6% hydrogen peroxide gels such as Day White work for about an hour before needing replacing.
16% Carbamide peroxide gels such as Night White may work for 2 to 4 hours.
Top up your whitening every three months for an hour using your trays to keep that smile sparkling.
